At Sequence Judo, our classes are structured, intentional, and built around the principles of Sequential Learning. Every session is designed to develop strong fundamentals, technical precision, and character — in a safe and respectful training environment.

We focus on progressive skill development, proper breakfalls, balance, timing, and controlled execution. Whether you are brand new to Judo or returning after years away, our goal is steady, confident improvement.

  • Structured warm-up and mobility work
  • Technical instruction using Sequential Learning
  • Partner drills focused on timing and control
  • Supervised live training (age and level appropriate)
  • Respectful bow-in and bow-out traditions

Safety is always the priority. Students progress based on readiness, not ego.

White or Blue Gi Policy

At Sequence Judo, students must wear a white or blue traditional Judo gi. No other uniform colors are permitted. The gi must be a proper Judo cut — not a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, karate, or mixed-style uniform. Judo gis are specifically constructed with correct sleeve length, reinforced grips, and durable fabric designed for throwing and partner training.

White and blue Judo gis are widely available through online retailers such as Amazon. We are also happy to assist you with ordering a properly fitted gi through the club to ensure quality and sizing.

Why White or Blue?

White and blue are the traditional colors recognized in modern Judo worldwide. By limiting our uniforms to these two colors, we maintain:

  • A clean and professional appearance
  • Consistency with national governing body standards
  • Simplicity and tradition
  • Unity within the dojo

Regardless of color choice, all students stand on equal ground. Rank is displayed on the belt — not through flashy uniforms. Our focus is humility, discipline, and shared growth.

Uniforms must be clean and well-maintained at every class. Proper hygiene, trimmed fingernails and toenails, and respectful appearance are part of protecting your training partners and honoring the mat.

At Sequence Judo, we train with purpose — and we represent our art with professionalism and tradition.

Regardless of rank, background, profession, or experience level — when we step on the mat, we are all students of Judo.

Code of Conduct

Sequence Judo is a community-focused program built on service, discipline, and mutual respect. All students and families are expected to uphold the following standards:

Respect

  • Show respect to instructors, training partners, and parents.
  • Bow on and off the mat.
  • Listen when instruction is being given.

Safety

  • Protect your training partner at all times.
  • No reckless behavior or uncontrolled techniques.
  • You must stay home if you are sick or have any skin infection.
  • Maintain proper hygiene and clean uniforms.

Discipline

  • Be on time and ready to train.
  • Give full effort during drills.
  • Accept correction with a positive attitude.

Character

  • No bullying, mocking, or disrespectful behavior.
  • Support teammates and encourage growth.
  • Leave the mat better than you found it — physically and mentally.

Failure to uphold these standards may result in removal from training. We are building a culture of growth.

Class Registration & Membership

At Sequence Judo, we are a community program and do not have membership contracts. Our goal is to build a strong, service-oriented community where students train because they value the environment, the structure, and the growth — not because they are locked into an agreement.

However, to train at our school, all students must maintain active an membership with either:

This membership requirement ensures:

  • Proper athlete insurance coverage
  • Nationally recognized rank and coaching standards
  • Compliance with safe sport policies
  • Alignment with recognized governing bodies

Memberships are affordable and can be completed online. We are happy to guide you through the process.

Why We Require National Membership

Sequence Judo operates with integrity and structure. By affiliating with recognized national organizations, we ensure:

  • Professional accountability
  • Safety compliance
  • Background-checked coaching standards
  • A pathway for athletes who may wish to compete

Even if a student never competes, membership protects both the athlete and the school.
